Now I see it clearly:
- The rw pattern: `deriv (deriv fun x => ... + mIIM x + ?m.2210) n` — the goal: `deriv^[2] (fun n => (fun m => 1/2*m*log m + ...) n + mFblock F n + ... + mIIM n + mK) n`.
TWO mismatches:
1. `deriv^[2]` (iterated deriv notation) vs `deriv (deriv ...) n` — convexOn_of_deriv2_nonneg's hf''_nonneg is stated with `deriv^[2] f x`! The Function.iterate form. `deriv^[2] f n` = deriv (deriv f) n — definitionally iterate 2 — but NOT syntactically `deriv (deriv f) n` for rw. Bridge: show deriv^[2] G n = deriv (deriv G) n: `Function.iterate_succ_apply` : f^[n+1] x = f (f^[n] x)... deriv^[2] = deriv^[1] then deriv... `show deriv (deriv (marginExpanded F)) n` — defeq (iterate computes) — change the goal first: `show 0 ≤ deriv (deriv (marginExpanded F)) n`?? — wait the goal after the earlier `rw [marginTilde_eq_expanded F]; unfold marginExpanded` — hmm actually the goal BEFORE those rewrites is `0 ≤ deriv^[2] (marginTilde F) n` — I did rw [marginTilde_eq_expanded F] → 0 ≤ deriv^[2] (marginExpanded F) n; unfold marginExpanded → the lambda. Now `show 0 ≤ deriv (deriv (lambda)) n` — defeq: deriv^[2] G n ≡ deriv (deriv G) n ✓ (iterate_succ: deriv^[2] = deriv ∘ deriv^[1] = deriv ∘ deriv ✓ defeq — `show` should accept).
2. The mS piece appears UNAPPLIED in the goal: `(fun m => 1/2*m*log m + ...) n` — the mS lambda applied to n (not beta-reduced) while the pattern's prefix has it beta-reduced — and the LAST term: pattern has `?m.2210` (g's metavar) vs goal's `mK` — fine. Also the bound var name n vs m — irrelevant.
So: before the deriv2_add chain, add `show (0:ℝ) ≤ deriv (deriv (marginExpanded F)) n`?? — wait the marginExpanded unfold already happened... The current goal: 0 ≤ deriv^[2] (fun n => (mS-lambda) n + mFblock F n + ... + mK) n. The (mS-lambda) n is unapplied — because marginExpanded's body has `(fun m => ...) n` literally (I wrote the first piece as an explicit lambda applied to n in marginExpanded's def!). To beta-reduce: `dsimp only` after unfold (beta-reduces (fun m => body) n → body[n]) ✓. Then `show` for deriv^[2] → deriv (deriv ·).
Order: rw [marginTilde_eq_expanded F]; unfold marginExpanded; dsimp only; show (0:ℝ) ≤ deriv (deriv _) n?? — `show` with a HOLE — no, state it fully... `show (0:ℝ) ≤ deriv (deriv (marginExpanded F)) n` — wait after unfold+dsimp the goal's function is the raw lambda — the show with (marginExpanded F) is defeq to it ✓ then unfold AGAIN? Circular. Cleaner: skip unfold entirely:
rw [marginTilde_eq_expanded F]
show (0:ℝ) ≤ deriv (deriv (marginExpanded F)) n
unfold marginExpanded
dsimp only
then the deriv2_add rewrites.
Hmm — `show` defeq check: deriv^[2] (marginExpanded F) n ≡ deriv (deriv (marginExpanded F)) n — iterate unrolls definitionally ✓ should pass.
The goal uses `deriv^[2]` (iterate form) and an unbeta-reduced lambda. Bridging before the rewrite chain.
