← Session 20 — Website: math/formula rendering review

Committed: bf7af04, 3 files (research_data.py, style.css, RH-WEBSITE.md). Staging rules respected (web/ + RH-WEBSITE.md only).
Summary for the user — concise:
1. Answer: MathJax (vendored 3.2.2), and it was never broken — the archive uses Unicode math, not LaTeX, so nothing was typeset outside the resources atlas.
2. Fix (typography pass, per their choice):
- render_markdown lifts display formula lines into styled blocks (~174 across archive)
- math-capable font stack (Cambria Math/STIX/Segoe UI Symbol)
- body font symbol fallback
3. Verified live: 20 routes OK, D-056 shows typeset-style blocks, resources LaTeX intact.
4. Committed bf7af04 (web/ + RH-WEBSITE.md only, per §0).
Tell them to hard-refresh the browser (CSS is served immediately but browser may cache).
Done. Summary:
**Answer**: MathJax 3.2.2 (vendored, no CDN) — and it was never broken. The research archive writes math in **plain Unicode notation** (`|r(w)| ≤ 1.2/|w|²`), not LaTeX, so MathJax had nothing to typeset outside the Resources Atlas (which does contain real LaTeX and renders fine).
**Fix applied** (typography pass, website-only):
- `render_markdown` now lifts the archive's two-space-indented display formulas into styled blocks — detection uses the archive's own convention (colon lead-in + math-signal characters, chained `+`/`−` aligned continuations), so wrapped prose stays inline. **174 display blocks** lifted, verified zero false-conversions and zero broken code blocks across all collections.
- `.math-line` blocks styled with Cambria Math / STIX Two / Segoe UI Symbol at 16px with preserved alignment spacing; body text gained a symbol fallback font.
- Content is never modified — lines are HTML-escaped and restyled only.
**Verified live**: 20 routes OK, D-056/R-003/D-026 (the heaviest math files) render clean formula blocks, resources LaTeX pages untouched.
Committed as `bf7af04` (only `web/` + `RH-WEBSITE.md`, per the §0 rule). **Hard-refresh your browser** (Ctrl+F5) to pick up the new CSS.
If you later want true typeset equations on the archive pages, that's the full LaTeX conversion route — a research-side decision for a future session.
