Now with `open Complex` only, π is UNKNOWN (probe2 had `example : (Real.log π : ℂ) = ...` which printed nothing — but maybe that probe output was empty because of output truncation... the second command's output showed nothing after "resolving" — the `lake env lean probe2.lean` output was empty meaning it compiled? or the output got merged weirdly. The current probe says π unknown with open Complex. So probe2's "silent success" was actually the empty output of the FIRST command only... no — the output shows "resolving" (probe1's #print) then nothing for probe2 — probe2 had no #print, so empty output = SUCCESS (compiled). But now probe with #check π fails... INCONSISTENT between probe2 and this probe — this probe has #check (π : ℝ) — failed; probe2 had Real.log π — succeeded. Same opens. The only difference: this probe's first line is #check (π : ℝ). Hmm — and probe2's `Real.log π` elaborated fine. OHHH. I see it now. `Real.log π` — when the elaborator hits unknown identifier `π`... no. Wait — probe2 compiled WITHOUT errors (empty output). This probe fails at #check π. The difference between the files: probe2 has no #check. So `Real.log π` elaborates but `#check π` doesn't?!! That's impossible for a simple identifier... UNLESS π is being parsed inside `Real.log π` as something else — like `Real.log π` isn't `Real.log` applied to `π`... `Real.log π` — hmm — what if there's a notation `Real.log π`?? No. Hold on — maybe the elaborator recovered in probe2: an unknown identifier produces an error AND recovery — probe2's errors would have been printed. Empty output means NO errors. So Real.log π elaborated to something with no error. And #check π errors. What elaborates in a term but not in #check? — maybe the auto-bound implicit feature: `example : Real.pi = π := rfl` — the π as auto-bound... no, auto-bound is for `example` binders... — Actually: `example : (Real.log π : ℂ) = (Real.log π : ℂ) := rfl` — if π were auto-implicit-bound, the example would get an extra implicit π hypothesis — auto-bound happens only for `variable`... no — Lean4's auto-bound feature: in `example ... π ...`, unknown lowercase identifiers get auto-bound as implicit ARGS — yes!! `example : ... π ... := ...` auto-binds π as an implicit variable! That's Lean 4's autobound feature (enabled by default in Mathlib): unknown lowercase letters in examples get auto-bound. So probe2 elaborated π as an auto-bound FREE VARIABLE (ℝ-typed? no — it would need a type — autobound gives it a metavariable type — then Real.log π forces ℝ) — so probe2 "compiled" with π a free variable!! And my LiArchimedean.lean — the LEMMAS with bare π — `lemma pi_cpow_neg_half_eq_exp (w : ℂ) : (↑Real.pi : ℂ) ^ (-w / 2) = Complex.exp (-(Real.log π : ℂ) / 2 * w)` — LEMMA declarations also auto-bind!! So my lemma statements got an EXTRA AUTO-BOUND IMPLICIT ARGUMENT `π : ℝ`!!! That's the "π : Real" in the error context! And that's why ring failed: the two sides had `Real.log Real.pi` (the real constant) vs `Real.log π` (a free VARIABLE π)! MYSTERY SOLVED: bare `π` is unknown in this environment (Mathlib version's π notation isn't active with my opens) and got auto-bound as a variable. My statements are WRONG (they quantify over a spurious π : ℝ). Fix: replace every bare `π` with `Real.pi` in LiArchimedean.lean. Also LiZetaCoeff.lean — did I use bare π anywhere there? I don't think so (it doesn't mention π). Let me also check LiSwaps/LiSides for bare π — LiSwaps has lagariasA1 = (log(4π)+γ)/2 — that's in LiSkeleton (session 011, compiled fine — LiSkeleton must use Real.pi or have proper opens — line 375: `Real.log (4 * Real.pi)` ✓ uses Real.pi). And LiArchimedean's `Real.log (4 * Real.pi)` in log_four_pi ✓ fine. The bare π usages in LiArchimedean: the statements of pi_cpow_neg_half_eq_exp, logDeriv_Gammaℝ_one_add, and log_four_pi uses Real.pi ✓, and logDeriv_Gammaℝ_one. Let me fix all bare π → Real.pi. Also `#check π` failing means the notation isn't active — LiResidue/LiPrincipal/LiSides compiled with... did they use π? LiSides: no π. LiSwaps: lagariasA — no bare π (it references lagariasA1). OK. The bare π in LiArchimedean.lean: 1. pi_cpow_neg_half_eq_exp statement: `-(Real.log π : ℂ) / 2 * w`. 2. logDeriv_Gammaℝ_one_add statement: `-(Real.log π : ℂ) / 2 + ...`. 3. Its proof body: several `-(Real.log π : ℂ) / 2`. 4. log_four_pi: uses Real.pi ✓ (I wrote Real.log (4 * Real.pi) ✓) — wait line: `Real.log (4 * Real.pi) = 2 * Real.log 2 + Real.log Real.pi` ✓. 5. logDeriv_Gammaℝ_one's push_cast/ring — will pick up the fixed forms. Simplest: sed-replace `Real.log π` → `Real.log Real.pi` throughout LiArchimedean.lean. Let me do it with Edit's replace_all.
Found it — bare `π` isn't valid notation with my opens, so Lean **auto-bound it as a spurious implicit variable** in my lemma statements. Every `Real.log π` must be `Real.log Real.pi`. Fixing globally.
