The background command was killed by a 2-minute timeout (exit 143). So background tasks also have a default 2m timeout. I need to pass a longer timeout. Max timeout is 600000ms (10 min) — but estimated runtime is ~17-20 min. Hmm, timeout param max 600000. For background tasks maybe timeout still applies (it did — 2m default). Options: 1. Reduce scope to n_max=1000 (fits in 10 min easily: t(k) at 2031 bits... sum much smaller, ~1-2 min). 2. Optimize the script to make 2000 fit in 10 min: 14 workers were already used. Single-thread estimate 3.9h / 14 ≈ 17 min > 10 min limit. Could reduce precision? Needed for correctness. 3. Chunk the run: modify script to cache stieltjes values incrementally? That changes the script; data-cache convention says scripts never recompute unless --force — partial caching doesn't exist. 4. Launch via a detached process (e.g., start /b or pythonw) so the CLI timeout doesn't kill it. E.g., use `cmd /c start` to spawn detached, then poll. That works: spawn with subprocess detached, write output to a log file, poll periodically. Simplest robust: run detached via `cmd /c start /min` — but shell is unix-like on win? Environment says "Shell: unknown (use Unix shell syntax)". Git bash likely. Could use `nohup ... &`? In git bash on Windows, background processes survive? The Bash tool kills its own children on timeout presumably. Detached spawn via python: `./.venv/Scripts/python.exe -c "import subprocess; subprocess.Popen([...], creationflags=DETACHED_PROCESS...)"`. DETACHED_PROCESS = 0x00000008, plus CREATE_NEW_PROCESS_GROUP. Redirect stdout to a log file. Also alternative: reduce to n_max=1000 first for a quick full pass (validates the fix end-to-end in ~2 min), commit that, then launch the 2000 run detached for the extended table. That's a good staged approach consistent with sub-stage rule. Actually also worth reconsidering: do we need stieltjes up to k=2000? For λ_n with n ≤ 2000, we need η_{j-1} for j ≤ 2000, i.e., γ_m for m ≤ 2000. Yes needed. Another speedup: the V5 block recomputes stieltjes 0..1000 at 1.4x dps (4900 bits) — adds several minutes. Could keep. Plan: 1. Quick n_max=1000 run foreground (~2-4 min? stieltjes to k=1000 at 2031 bits: c·k^3 sum = 3.53e-9·(1000^4/4)·(2031/3530 scale?) — from timing: k=1000 at 3530 bits = 3.66s; sum_{0..1000} ≈ 3.66/4·1000/... integral: ∫k³dk = k⁴/4, ratio sum(1000)/t(1000) = 1000/4 = 250 → 3.66·250 ≈ 915s single-thread /14 ≈ 65s. Plus V5 sweep to k=500 at 1.4x dps: small. Plus zetas. Total ~2-3 min. Fits in 10 min foreground.) Wait but V5 for n_max=1000 uses k_half=500, dps2=770 → fast. OK. 2. If checks pass at n_max=1000, commit, then launch n_max=2000 detached with a log file and poll. Actually — simpler: just launch the 2000 run detached directly. But validating quickly at 1000 first de-risks (if V2/V3 still fail, we learn in 3 min instead of 20). Do both: first 1000 foreground.
Not done — the background run was killed by a 2-minute default timeout (my mistake; I underestimated the sweep cost). Adjusting: first a quick **n_max=1000** run in the foreground (~2–3 min) to validate the fix end-to-end, then launch n_max=2000 as a detached process that the CLI timeout can't kill.
