Progress: j 0-23 now accurate to 1e-194 ✓. S_f(100) = −0.6287456 (vs ref −0.6287528, agree to 7e-6 — the j=24 error 2.66e-29·C(100,24) = 6.4e-6 ✓ explained).
But j=24 STILL shows diff 2.66e-29!!! And S_f(200) = 1351 (still wrong; should be −2.14), S_f(300) = 5.3e7.
So η_24 from compute_eta IS wrong at 2.66e-29, despite my isolated replication giving the right value. WHY? In the isolated replication I set full_digits = 193 manually and did the loop j=24..60 — η_24 came out right (matched to 40 digits). In the module compute_eta with full_digits=193... same code... Let me look at the actual code in the file now — maybe there's a subtle difference from my replication. The module:
```
mp.mp.dps = full_digits + 50
n_zeta = max(zeta_str)
for j in range(K_SPLIT, n_zeta):
z = mp.mpf(zeta_str[j + 1])
eta = (-1) ** (j + 1) * ((1 - mp.mpf(2) ** (-(j + 1))) * z - 1)
eta_str[j] = mp.nstr(eta, full_digits)
```
vs my replication — identical!!! But replication: `for j in range(K_SPLIT, 60)` and `n_zeta = 300` — shouldn't matter. full_digits=193 both.
Hmm wait — in the module run, BEFORE the zeta loop, mp.mp.dps was set to full_digits+100 = 293 (Stieltjes part). Then `mp.mp.dps = full_digits + 50` = 243. Then the loop. My replication: same sequence (dps 293 set... wait no — in my replication I set mp.mp.dps = full_digits+100 AFTER gam_s, then recursion, then mp.mp.dps = full_digits+50 = 243, then loop ✓ same).
But η_24 in module: diff 2.66e-29; in replication: correct. The difference: in the module, the loop runs to n_zeta = max(zeta_str) = 5000, not 60!! j goes 24..4999. At some point... does dps CHANGE during the loop? No set inside. BUT mp.mpf(zeta_str[j+1]) — parsing 1650-digit strings at dps 243 ✓...
OH WAIT!!! mp.nstr(eta, full_digits) — eta for large j: η_j ~ 3^{−j}: at j=4000: 3^{−4000} = 10^{−1908} — with dps 243, mpf exponent handles it ✓. nstr(η, 193) → 193 sig digits ✓.
Hmm, is it possible that the dps silently RESETS during the long loop? The memory bug: "mp.dps = X silently keeps 53-bit" — what if under Python 3.14 + mpmath 1.3, mp.mp.dps SET works, but something RESETS it?? Like flint calls?! In compute_eta, before the loop, the last flint call was stieltjes. Inside the loop: no flint. Hmm.
Let me directly instrument the MODULE's compute_eta: monkeypatch or add a debug print. Simplest: in my harness, after calling ns["compute_eta"], ALSO compute η_24 in the harness at dps 243 and compare with eta_str[24] — already did: diff 2.66e-29 vs ref. Now: parse eta_str[24] and print 50 digits; print η_24 computed at dps 243 in harness; compare strings. If eta_str[24] string shows correct digits but the parsed value differs... let me look at the string!
j≤23 fixed (1e-194), but η₂₄ is still wrong at 2.66e-29 despite isolated replication working. Let me print the actual string from the module run.
