Some issues to check: 1. The K1 function computes a full toeplitz matrix `scipy.linalg.toeplitz(_tc)` EVERY call for the residual check — that's 46MB allocation × 920 grid points × 6 rungs × 3 a's — slow and wasteful. Fix: compute residual only for a few sample points, or precompute the Toeplitz matrix once per rung. Actually precompute Tm once per rung (needed for the bordered solve anyway) and pass it in. But toeplitz matvec: T @ v costs n² = 5.8M flops — fine per call; the allocation of T is the issue. Precompute T_dense once per rung and use it for both residual and bordered solve. 2. The bordered solve for cp uses dense BB (n+1)² with scipy.linalg.solve — n=2399: O(n³) = 1.4e10 per rung — that's ~30-60 s each, ×18 rungs = 10-20 min. Acceptable but could use the Schur form: cp = u0 − (sum(u0)/s1)·u1 with u0 = solve_toeplitz(tc, b[+1]). Use the Schur form (consistent with E-022/024 and validated to 3.6e-14). 3. m01 computation: `np.minimum.reduce([np.abs(zm - g) for g in gam])` builds a 135×1069 list — fine but clunky; reshape(-1) ok. Keep. 4. V2 baseline check uses E-022b dip values — my E-022 grid was [14,60) step 0.05, same here ✓. 5. xi_real: 920 flint evaluations at prec 120 — fast enough (~seconds). 6. The lock metric: mean over first 20 γ's of min-dist/(π/2a) — chance level ≈ 0.5 (uniform in [0, π/2a] has mean π/4a, normalized = 0.5). So lock = 0.5 is chance; →0 is locking. Fix comment in header (says 1.0 = chance; actual chance = 0.5). Minor — document correctly in analysis. 7. In K1 closure: `_tc` captured — fine. But `float(np.max(np.abs(scipy.linalg.toeplitz(_tc) @ v + ...)))` — building the matrix each call — fix per #1. Let me fix 1&2: precompute T_dense per rung, pass to K1 for residual; cp via Schur.
Two efficiency/correctness fixes before launch: don't rebuild the Toeplitz matrix per grid point, and use the validated Schur form for cp.
