Both forks done and committed. Now present the joint evaluation for the user's decision. Concise summary of both forks + the candidate directions with my assessment.
Both forks complete and committed (`17efd1a`). Here's the joint evaluation:
## Fork 1 (D-045) — symbol identification: SUCCESS
- The extended profile below γ₁ is flat at ≈ 2a, and the plateau prefactor climbs 1.95 → 1.99 toward **exactly 2** as a grows: **K_plateau → 2a, the free Paley–Wiener diagonal** (the "6/π" was a finite-a shadow).
- Valley floors ≈ 1.04 ± 0.06 for every γ — the mass gauge m_γ ≈ 1.
- **The symbol is identified structurally: β_a → 1 + zero-comb** — the explicit formula itself appearing as the operator's symbol. The model spaces are "Paley–Wiener pinned at the zero frequencies." This is the cleanest statement yet of what the Suzuki machinery is computing.
- No cleaner closed form exists at finite a (plateau flat to ±1.5% rules out all |Ξ|-ratio candidates).
## Fork 2 (D-046) — λ-channel sizing: INFEASIBLE → G-004
- True λ_a is superexponential (0.414 at a=0.25 → 1.44e-9 at a=1.0; already < 3e-12 at a=2 — everything below is discretization floor).
- The artifact bottom is an oscillatory quadrature-error mode (frequency ~46, O(h) decay) — never the ξ-ground-state.
- **The feasibility windows are disjoint**: ground-state resolution needs a ≲ 1.3; zero resolution needs a ≳ 4–6. Even spectral methods can't bridge it. Filed as G-004 with revival conditions.
## Where this leaves us — the decision
The (★) route's state is now fully mapped: positions lock (0.65/a²), weights are right (m_γ ≈ 1), the obstruction is exactly the residual mass → Z/(2π), the breaking mechanism (λ-shift) is understood but machinery-unreachable, and the symbol picture (1 + comb) is in hand. Candidates:
1. **Symbol-space ground-state formulation** (D-046 revival condition ii) — formulate the consolidation directly on the comb-symbol, no discretization. The one live theoretical opening on the (★) route; uncertain payoff.
2. **2.9 paper-work** (L1 embedding, L3/L4 WH class assembly) — completes the D1 reduction rigorously; solid but doesn't advance the obstruction.
3. **Phase 4 synthesis / paper assembly** — R-003 (exact factorization), R-004 (finite-height theorem), and the spectral-measure theory (D-040–D-045) are publication-grade now; draft.tex exists.
4. **Domain sweep** (§4A.5) — look for an untouched field with machinery shaped like the residual-equilibrium wall.
My assessment: (1) is the highest-risk/highest-value research opening; (3) is the highest certain value — this session produced a coherent results package that exists nowhere else, and assembling it now protects it. (2) and (4) are support work. Which way?
