Now I see: removing push_cast broke hsum (line 721 linear_combination): the residual shows:
- hEM has DOUBLE-cast sums (w + ↑↑k)⁻¹ while hconv has SINGLE-cast (w + ↑k)⁻¹ (since hconv's family is now single-cast).
- hEM has ↑(−1/2) un-normalized (as I suspected, the display in pass-13 was mid-processing).
- hEM's 0-term is (w + ↑0)⁻¹ with ↑0 = ((0:ℝ):ℂ), while hconv's is w⁻¹.
So push_cast WAS doing the work (normalizing ↑↑k → ↑k, ↑↑n → ↑n, ↑0 → 0, ↑(−1/2) → −1/2) — but it emitted "does nothing" warning?? That's bizarre. OH WAIT — I see: the pass-14 warning said "push_cast tactic does nothing" — but pass-13's hEM (in the error context) showed single-cast normalized forms `∑ x ∈ Finset.Ioc 0 n, (w + ↑x)⁻¹` and `(w⁻¹ * (-1/2) - ...)`. That was WITH push_cast + add_zero simp. So push_cast DID work in pass 13, and in pass 14 (before I removed it — the warning was IN pass 14's output about line 799)... wait no. Pass 14 output = the warning "'push_cast' tactic does nothing" at 799 — and NO other errors, meaning everything compiled. Then I REMOVED push_cast and now hsum fails. So push_cast was NOT a no-op... unless — OH. I see: in pass 14, the line `push_cast at hEM` came AFTER `rw [hB10, hB1n] at hEM` — and it warned "does nothing" — yet removing it broke hsum. Contradiction? Unless the "does nothing" warning is a LINTER artifact — `push_cast` might warn spuriously when it only normalizes without changing the "main" form... Actually the linter "tactic does nothing" for push_cast fires when push_cast doesn't change the goal/hypothesis AT ALL. But clearly it did change hEM (per pass-13's normalized display). Hmm — pass 13's context came from the error at line 897 (hv1's add_le_add) — at that point hEM displayed normalized — that was WITH push_cast. In pass 14, the warning said push_cast does nothing but everything still compiled?! And now pass 15 (push_cast removed) hsum fails with UN-normalized hEM.
The explanation: in pass 14, `push_cast at hEM` might have genuinely been a no-op warning because... no wait, if it were a no-op in pass 14 then pass 14's hsum would have failed the same way. Unless the pass-14 warning was about a DIFFERENT push_cast (line 799 — which line was that? The hEM push_cast was around line 706). Hmm — line 799 in pass 14 — after my edits the file shifted. The `push_cast` at line 799 might be... let me count: my big §6 tail insert added ~150 lines after hEM. Line 799 in pass 14 = probably in hnsq's `push_cast` (after rw [h1, h2])! THAT push_cast — the one in hnsq — was the no-op (the coe ↑(re*re+im*im) needed... hmm apparently it did nothing because the goal had no coercions left after the rewrites? But then `rw [sq_abs]; ring` handled it). And the hEM push_cast (line ~706) was fine and needed!
I misread which push_cast the warning pointed at. Restore the hEM push_cast, and remove the hnsq one.
The "does nothing" warning was about the *hnsq* push_cast, not the hEM one — I removed the wrong line. Restoring.
