The cast shape: my ZeroCountProp def sums in ℕ then casts: `((...toFinset.sum fun ρ => zeroMult ρ) : ℝ)`. But the error shows the expected type is `∑ ρ ∈ WF, ↑(zeroMult ρ)` — i.e., the def's `((sum ...) : ℝ)` gets NORMALIZED by push_cast-style coercion insertion to `∑ ρ ∈ _, ↑(zeroMult ρ)`? Interesting — the elaborator inserted the cast inside. Actually what happened: in my def I wrote `(((zeroWindow_finite t).toFinset.sum fun ρ => zeroMult ρ) : ℝ)` — the sum is in ℕ (zeroMult : ℂ → ℕ), then cast to ℝ. But the error says h1 has type `... ≤ ∑ ρ ∈ WF, ↑(zeroMult ρ)` — so h1's LHS got elaborated as a REAL sum of casts. That means the def's `(sum ... : ℝ)` with the expected real type pushed the coercion inside? No wait — the ERROR is at line 213: `Nat.cast_le.mpr h2` where h2 : WF.card ≤ WF.sum (fun ρ => zeroMult ρ) (ℕ inequality), so Nat.cast_le.mpr h2 : (↑WF.card : ℝ) ≤ ↑(WF.sum ...) — a cast of a ℕ-sum. But h1's LHS is `∑ ρ ∈ WF, ↑(zeroMult ρ)` — a sum of casts (the elaborator of my def unified `(sum fun ρ => zeroMult ρ : ℝ)` by inserting the cast per-term because the ascription ((...) : ℝ) coerces the whole... hmm no — apparently when I wrote `((Finset.sum ... fun ρ => zeroMult ρ) : ℝ)`, Lean elaborated `Finset.sum` at type ℝ directly (the expected type ℝ propagates INTO the sum, making each term cast: zeroMult ρ gets coerced ℕ → ℂ? no → ℝ). So the sum is the ℝ-sum of `(zeroMult ρ : ℝ)` terms.
So h1 : (∑ ρ ∈ toFinset, (zeroMult ρ : ℝ)) ≤ C0hat (a+1) — sum of real casts. And my h3 : ↑WF.card ≤ ↑(∑ ...) — cast of a ℕ-sum. These are equal by Nat.cast_sum but not syntactically.
Fix: make h2 produce the ℝ-valued sum directly: use Finset.card_le_sum... or push_cast at h3, or state h2 with the cast sum:
```lean
have h3 : (WF.card : ℝ) ≤ ((WF.sum fun ρ => zeroMult ρ) : ℝ) := Nat.cast_le.mpr h2
rw [Nat.cast_sum] at h3 -- cast of sum = sum of casts
exact h3.trans h1
```
Nat.cast_sum : ↑(∑ i ∈ s, f i) = ∑ i ∈ s, ↑(f i) ✓ standard (Nat.cast_sum (s) (f)). Add the rw. Or simpler: change h2 to work over ℝ directly:
```lean
have h2 : (WF.card : ℝ) ≤ ∑ ρ ∈ WF, (zeroMult ρ : ℝ) := by
rw [show (WF.card : ℝ) = ∑ ρ ∈ WF, (1 : ℝ) by simp]
apply Finset.sum_le_sum
intro ρ hρ
exact_mod_cast one_le_zeroMult (((hWFmem ρ).mp hρ).1)
```
`(WF.card : ℝ) = ∑ ρ ∈ WF, (1:ℝ)` — via Finset.card_eq_sum_ones + cast, or `by simp` (Finset.sum_const, nsmul... simp should close: ∑ _ ∈ s, (1:ℝ) = s.card • 1 = card). Then Finset.sum_le_sum over ℝ with (1:ℝ) ≤ (zeroMult ρ : ℝ) via exact_mod_cast of one_le_zeroMult (1 ≤ zeroMult ρ in ℕ → (1:ℝ) ≤ (zeroMult ρ:ℝ) via Nat.cast_le... exact_mod_cast handles). Cleaner. Let me rewrite that step in LiContour, and similarly in LiGapCircles.
The def's ascription pushed the cast inside the sum (real sum of casts), while my bridge produced a cast of a ℕ-sum. Fixing by working over ℝ directly in the card step.
